New Campaign Ideas That Popped Into My Head

So a while back I talked about CVW-20 Campaigns that were not currently in the works, but I would like to do some day. Well, since then some developments had come up, including the excitement of Nordic Wind and Moirae going into inital production. Because I have some serious issues with not starting too many projects, here are some other campaigns that I’ve thought up.

Zver - Playing as Redfor has always been something that I’ve kinda been against. I myself don’t even own any redfor aircraft outside of FC4. Yet the idea has always been interesting to me, and if I could just find the right campaign premise for it, it might just work. Hence the Soviet-Afghan war. Zver would take place on the Afghanistan map and would be a extremely COIN centric campaign, similar to DPTST2. The player faction would always be on the back foot, but that would be sort of the point. you may alway be able to hold territory, but that won’t stop the endless hordes from taking your victories from you and turning your buddies into cargo 200. You are trapped in the graveyard of empires, and the Zver has awoken

Vikrant - This one is a little politically charged, but man is it a concept we just don’t see in DCS. And to ease up on the political tension, it would likely be the first PVP CVW-20 Campaign. It’s easy to look at the indo pakistan war as unrealistic for DCS, except a lot of aircraft are already in it. Aircraft such as the F-86, Mig-21, Harrier, and even the F-16 saw service with either India or Pakistan, and it wouldn’t be hard to imagine another powder keg going off in that region. That being said, this one is a victim of two problems. One is that like I said this particular conflict is politically charged in ways I don’t even wanna pick sides on . The other is that there isn’t a fantastic map option. The absolute closest I could think of was Persian gulf, and even then it’s not a fantastic pick. I don’t love using map analogs but, if there’s no other option, that might just be the only one. Vikrant is an extremely cool concept, that I would love to build out, but we pick our battles.

Screaming Eagles - So I enjoy Arma and as further evidence that I’m turning into my father, I have consumed a unhealthy amount of Band of Brothers. By the way, mild tangent, The Pacific, and Masters of the Air are not remotely as good as BoB, and I will die on that hill. Speaking of dying on hills, the Spearhead 1944 CDLC for Arma 3 lets us get into WW2 territory which I frankly believe to be underrated. Problem is for this to work, I have to get an dynamic Arma 3 server working, and that has never been easy. It’s really the only thing holding me back, because there’s all kinds of neat Arma campaigns that I’m very excited to look into, much like this next one.

Things Carried - For those of you who got the Tim O’Brien Reference, you’re good people. Things Carried is an Arma 3 Campaign like Screaming Eagles, this time using the Prarie Fire CDLC. As could probably be expected, this would be a COIN operation, and that’s actually easier to set up campaign wise. Problem is that you’d probably struggle to win it. Of course that’s the issue with it’s setting. You might kill a billion VC in the jungle, but they’re not gonna stop coming. That’s kind of the point too, because I can give you a thousand Dynamic objectives to complete but that’s not gonna let you win. Anyways have fun.
