The Ultimate in Dynamic DCS Simulation
WHY FLY CVW-20?
Simple: Accuracy without sacrificing fun. CVW20’s Dynamic campaigns are easy to learn, but challenging to master. We attribute this largely to our unrelenting adherence to our theme. All of our campaigns take place during the 1980s. As an example, F-18s are often limited to early AIM-7s and F-16s are usually restricted to AIM-9s. You won’t see the A-10C around, but the A-10A shows up a lot. Pilots often need to use caution with SAM sites, as they’ve been known to lure pilots into traps. The Warehouse system means that C-130, UH-1, and UH-60 Pilots get to shine in the spotlight, because the frontline doesn’t move without them. Keep an eye out for ambient traffic, since both Blufor and Redfor AI will order Strikes, Intercepts, Resupplies, and CAS to supplement player actions.
Our Mod packs allow for players to experience eras that wouldn’t be nearly as fleshed out in DCS otherwise and wouldn’t be playable on other servers. When you step into DPTST, you’re stepping into a carefully curated historical DCS experience.
Even with all this, don’t expect a Job. At the end of the day, missions are meant for fun, and while playing in a group is encouraged, you can fly solo without issue. Our support request system allows for you to get the help you need in any conditions. There’s a little bit of something for everyone in CVW20.

Operation Roaring Sun
CVW-20’s first foray into Dynamic Tactical Simulations. Roaring Sun was a rudimentary combination of cinematic events and large scale tactical AI. While lacking in many of the features that would become iconic of DPTST, it nevertheless serves an important role in the heritage of our dynamic campaigns.

DPTST 1
The groundbreaking first DPTST. While not remotely stable enough for the large scale multiplayer experiences it ended up creating. DPTST1 was still legendary for creating a competent (and often conniving) enemy Tactical AI. Many a poor F-16 pilot would be caught between a rock and a SA-15 surface to air missile site. DPTST 1 showed the potential of the DPTST campaigns we see today.

DPTST: Tartarus
Syria is at a breaking point. Foreign influences and various uprisings threaten to destabilize the region. A Multinational task force stands by at Cyprus to deescalate the situation. The regime however will not allow these perceived threats to their sovereignty so easily, and it’s up to CVW20 to run COIN ops and knock out the entrenched foes in a classic middle east conflict.

DPTST: Marianas
The Soviets have invaded the Marianas Islands. With such a close proximity to the facilities at Guam, the US can not leave this situation unchallenged. However, situation can not be allowed to escalate further either. With the Soviet Carrier Tbilisi in the area, It’s a fight for logistics, to see who can hold the islands and stay rooted into the jungles.

What is DPTST?
After Roaring Sun, the question on everyone’s lips was “What’s next?” The answer was a true deployment simulator. The idea being, that when you get really close to realism you can potentially get extremely invested in the outcome of the simulation. A lot of groundbreaking concepts were floated including campaign permadeath, log keeping, individualized aircraft tied to maintenance, and in sim logistics tied to a separate virtual airline.
However, that kind of simulation would take the development of new technologies. Hence the creation of the Deployment Test Series or DPTST.
Today, plans for the Deployment Sim or (DPSIM) are a shell of their former self, but the dream of a hyper realism air combat sim lives on.
OR SO WE FUCKIN THOUGHT!!!!! (Update 10/9/24
Roughly 2+ years after writing that original segment we have changed what we thought possible with DPSIMs. For starters, we do have those hyper realistic simulation periods with our annual General Quarters series. Even better, our realism has leaped ahead of anything else that DCS has to offer. With SAM randomization, full dynamic frontlines, and even AI force structures based off of unit makeups of their real world counterparts, we have brought a simulation to life so realistic, you might has well have bought a time machine
